Snow Quartz Gemmology Facts:

Snow Quartz is cloudy in appearance variety of Quartz and is sometimes referred to as Milky Quartz or White Quartz. Its sisters include Rose Quartz, Citrine, Prasiolite and Smokey Quartz to name a few. The colouring of Snow Quartz is created by microscopic water bubbles inside the Stone.

Quartz gets its name from the Slavic word for “Hard”. Snow Quartz measures a 7 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness It is by far the most common Gemstone found on Earth. Varieties of Quartz have even been found in Aberdeenshire and Angus in Scotland.

Quartz grows in a trigonal structure.
