Chakra: from the ancient Sanskrit, meaning ‘Wheel’
The Chakras are energy centres in the body that are believed to be important for physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The word “Chakra” is Sanskrit for “wheel,” and these energy centres are thought to be spinning wheels of energy that correspond to different areas of the body.
There are seven main Chakras in the body, starting from the base of the spine and moving up to the top of the head. Each Chakra is associated with a specific colour, element, and aspect of consciousness. Here is a brief overview of the seven main Chakras:
Crown ChakraThe Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) is associated with the colour violet and is located at the top of the head. It is associated with spirituality, enlightenment, and connection to a higher power. Location: The very top of the head
3rd Eye ChakraThe Third Eye Chakra (Ajna) is associated with the colour indigo and is located between the eyebrows. It is associated with intuition, insight, and the ability to see beyond the physical world. Location: Forehead between your eyebrows
Throat ChakraThe Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) is associated with the colour blue and is located in the throat. It is associated with communication, self-expression, and the ability to speak one’s truth. Location: Throat
Heart ChakraThe Heart Chakra (Anahata) is associated with the colour green and is located in the centre of the chest. It is associated with love, compassion, and connection to others. Location: Centre of the chest, slightly above the heart
Solar Plexus ChakraThe Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) is associated with the colour yellow and is located in the upper abdomen. It is associated with personal power, self-esteem, and control. Location: Upper abdomen in the stomach area

In some traditions, it is believed that when the Chakras are balanced and open, a person can experience optimal physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Chakra Unblocking Ritual
Here is a little ritual that you could do to unblock your Chakras.
Take a Gemstone colour-matched to Chakra(s) you would like to unblock. Place it between your palms and gently move it around to activate it. Find a quiet moment and a comfortable place to lay down. On the Chakra locations identified above, place the relevant Crystal. For example, Lapis Lazuli on your 3rd Eye Chakra or place Citrine on your Solar Plexus. Breathe deeply and envision the energy of the Crystal flowing into the area it is touching and spreading around your body. Consider the Mantras above and repeat them to yourself, either internally or aloud, with each inhale. Try to remain here for 5 minutes, or continue until you feel the need to move.
