Amazonite is a variety of microcline, a form of Feldspar, which comes in the form of Crystal masses. Other Gems in the Feldspar family include:

Labradorite
Moonstone
Sunstone
To name a few.

Amazonite often has a shimmering effect, this is due to the cleavage planes within the Amazonite catching the light. Due to its construction, Amazonite is a nice hard Gemstone.
