PICTURE JASPER GEMMOLOGY FACTS:

Jasper is an opaque Chalcedony variety. Picture Jasper is a type of Jasper with natural patterning that looks like a landscape or other artistic imagery.

As an opaque Gemstone, it’s an impure type of Silica that can come in many colours and patterns – largely depending on the minerals that make their way (via wind or rain) into the original Quartz during its making within Mother Earth.

The beauty of Picture Jaspers is that they exhibit combinations of patterns that appear to be scenes or random images – use your imagination in your makes to create unique pieces with these stunning patterns.

Did you know that Picture Jaspers can be found worldwide in places such as Indonesia, Idaho, Russia and Kazakhstan? Some colours and patterns can even be determined by their geography.

Jasper can be any colour and take on a variety of forms. Many Jasper varieties are named after the location where they are found. Bloodstone, Picture Jasper, Porcelain Jasper, and Brecciated Jasper are the most well-known jaspers.
