Our Peridot Chips are a green Gemstone that varies in olive green to yellowish-green shades. It is also known as Chrysolite and Olivine. It is found in the United States, Brazil, Ireland, Egypt, Russia, Sri Lanka and the Canary Islands.

When we talk about Gemstones, we discuss Gems being allochromatic or idiochromatic. Peridot is an idiochromatic Gem – this means that the colouring of the Gem is not due to impurities, but the colouring element is essential to the Gemstone’s structure. Peridot’s vibrant green colour comes from iron.

Did you know in 2005, Peridot was found in comet dust brought back from the Stardust robotic space probe?

Peridot is the birthstone of August and Gemstone for the 15th wedding anniversary.
