The word Garnet comes from the Latin word Granatus, when translated meaning seeds or grains.

Garnet is the traditional birthstone of January.

Garnet has a hardness of 6.5 – 7.5 on the Mohs Scale.

Wollastonite comes in colours ranging from yellow, white, grey, red, brown, light green and pinkish tones.

The name Wollastonite was named after the English Chemist and Mineralogist William Hyde Wollaston. Wollaston discovered Palladium and Rhodium and invented the camera lucida, the reflecting goniometer and the meniscus lens.

Wollastonite has a hardness of 4.5 – 5 on the Mohs Scale.
