Gemmology Facts: Amber
Did you know that Amber is one of the earliest recorded Gemstones? Originally the resin of extinct trees, these orange and honey-toned beauties can range from 30 to 90 million years old! The resin has been fossilised and then washed up onto the coastline for millions of years.
Our Gemmologist Marie Chalmers has travelled to Poland, along the Baltic Coast, to collect Baltic Amber from the beaches.
If you look closely, in some Amber, you may spot prehistoric insects trapped inside!
You need to be wary of fake Amber on the market – an excellent test to check if your Amber is holding or rubbing it in your hands to warm it slightly. Real Amber will release a pine scent. Another quick test is to see if it will also float in saltwater. As always, no need to doubt Chalmers Gems’ authenticity or quality.
Crystal Healing Properties: What is Amber good for?
Amber is one of the oldest and most coveted treasures, formed by light and life and preserved for millions of years. Amber has been portrayed as sun drops because of its pleasing warm colour and abundance of magical and medicinal properties.
Amber is a profoundly warming Crystal; on a physiological level, Amber has anti-inflammatory properties, having been used for millennia for its healing powers.
Amber is a powerful healer and cleanser of the body, mind and spirit, cleansing the environment around you. It is no coincidence that Amber comes from ancient trees. Like the trees taking in carbon dioxide and turning it into oxygen, Amber transforms negative energy into positive ones.
Its warm and sunny brightness is soothing to the mind and emotions, perfect for those of us that feel nervous and anxious.
Amber is often worn as a necklace or a bracelet by children or infants. Its protective benefits ward off negative energies and shield the wearer from harm. Wear your Amber to keep it close by, and you will instantly feel the benefits as the world around you changes to a more positive place.
What Chakra does Baltic Amber open?
We’d suggest placing your Baltic Amber on your Solar Plexus for a burst of sunlight that radiates throughout your body. Baltic Amber is also perfect for stimulating the art of manifestation through the Solar Plexus Chakra. Keep your Baltic Amber close during Meditation and let your desires easily turn to reality.
Amber exudes a golden aura and is an expert at assisting with Sacral Chakra clearing and cleansing. This lovely treasure is all about finding equilibrium, maintaining stability, and developing understanding inside your spiritual home. Amber supports self-expression through creativity and mental cleansing.
GEMSTONE & CRYSTAL CARE:
One of the most important things to remember if you own Gemstones or Crystals is to care for them properly. Gemstones should be carefully cared for like any other item we love. We recommend using the Chalmers Gems Gemstone Cleaning & Polishing Cloth to keep your Gems clean.
