GEMMOLOGY FACTS: CHAROITE

This is a Gemstone that is usually violet, lilac or lavender in appearance. The tone of the purple can vary. You may even hear Charoite being referred to as “Lilac Stone” or “Charoite Jade”. It is not uncommon to find swirling patterns of black, white and grey within the Gem. In our opinion, this makes Charoite even more stunning.

Charoite was first discovered in the 1940s in Russia along the River Chara. Within the Russian language, “chary” means magic or charms. Very apt for this spellbinding Gemstone.
