Ametrine is a rare form of Quartz mined in Bolivia. Due to unusual geological conditions, the Amethyst and Citrine grew together and are both found within the same specimen.

Ametrine showcases a superb colour combination of the powerful purple of Amethyst into the beautiful yellow of Citrine. This combination happens because of iron impurities in different stages of oxidation within the Quartz.

Ametrine only became available until the 1970s even though it was discovered in the 1600s. Legend says a Spanish Conqueror found the mine after receiving the land when he married a native princess called Anahi. After his death, the mine was lost for centuries. When rediscovered, it was named after the princess. The Anahi Mine in Bolivia is the main producer of Ametrine.
