Gemmology Facts:  

Obsidian is a natural glass formed by the rapid cooling of volcanic lava. A Crystalline structure would have been created if the lava had been allowed to cool slowly.

It has a dark body colour due to the presence of iron and magnesium in its structure. The sheen exhibited in our Silver Obsidian is caused by the reflection from minute needle-like inclusions and tint micro-bubbles formed inside the volcano!
