Apatite is a famous Gemstone in the world of Gemmology! In Gemmology, we use the Mohs Scale of Hardness to characterise the hardness of Gems. The scale is 1 to 10, 1 being the softest and 10 the hardest. Each number/step on the scale has a mineral associated with it. Apatite is the Mineral for Mohs hardness level 5.
