Labradorite Gemmology Facts:

Labradorite is a Feldspar Mineral. It demonstrates the phenomena of Labradorscence, which exhibits flashes of blue, green, red, purple, orange and yellow. Now Labradorscence isn’t a display of colours – it is an interaction with light.

When light enters the Stone it strikes the twinning surface. The flash of colour/colours you see is the light being reflected from the twinning surface. Different surfaces will give different colours.

The flash or Labradorescence only occurs in two directions, so it takes a skilled Cutter to assess the rough material, retain maximum beauty, and minimise weight loss.

Here at Chalmers Gems, we like to provide top-quality Labradorite, and the cutters we use are experts in cutting Labradorite.

Spectrolite is Labradorite’s sister, which has an extremely fine structure giving it this exceptional flash. It is much rarer and therefore more expensive.

Spectrolite has a very intense dark colour and demonstrates some of the best Labradorescence in the world. Spectrolite is found in Finland.

This Gem is found worldwide. Originally it was first located in Labrador, Canada, in the late 1700s, hence its name. It is now found worldwide. The majority of Chalmers Gems Labradorite comes from Madagascar.

A unique characteristic of Labradorite is that it can be found in varying sizes with excellent Labradorescence, from small pieces that can be cut into tiny Beads bursting with flashes to large pieces with vast areas for Labradorescence; these look fabulous as giant Freeforms!

Crystal Healing Properties: What is Labradorite good for?

The Inuit people believe Labradorite to be capable of communicating between the earthly and spiritual realms and hosts a wonderful amplifying energy – which is probably why it’s able to amplify communication energies.

Talk of higher planes is often associated with Labradorite as, through the ages, it is deemed to possess magical qualities. Some of these help us with deeper meaning, communication and understanding, whilst some help us with more emotional traits such as tempering our reckless or impulsive behaviour.

On the other hand, this Crystal encourages our emotional armour against negativity so if you are around negative people or situations, simply reach for your Labradorite.

Wearing or carrying this Gem allows one’s natural magical abilities to manifest.

It improves mental and intuitive abilities such as clairvoyance, telepathy, prophecy, and coincidence control, as well as communication with higher guides and spirits in Akashic records, psychic readings, and past-life recall.

It facilitates travel between worlds and allows for a safe and grounded return to the present.

Labradorite, as a workplace Stone, brings out the best in people, making work life more pleasant.

It promotes courtesy and full attention to the customer while also assisting part-time and temporary employees in becoming fully integrated into a company.

What Chakra does Labradorite open?

This Labradorite Bar is perfect for opening the Throat Chakra, placing them in your palm and holding them close to your chest. Holding them in this position will clear any negative energies allowing you to communicate more clearly and freely.

GEMSTONE & CRYSTAL CARE:

One of the most important things to remember if you own these Beads is to care for them properly. Gemstones should be carefully cared for like any other item we love.

We recommend using the Chalmers Gems Gemstone Cleaning & Polishing Cloth to keep your Labradorite clean.
