Gemmology Facts:

Kunzite is the pink variety of the Spodumene family (we have some Spodumene on the website) and is prized for its pretty pink/purple colour. It is one of the few naturally pink Stones to exist.

This Stone has a very high lustre and this is what makes Kunzite a very shiny Gem. The brighter or more colourful Kunzite is the more valuable the Stone can be.

Kunzite was first discovered in the USA. It was given its name after the American Mineralogist, former vice president and buyer for Tiffany & Co, George Federick Kunz.

Even though Kunzite was first uncovered in America it is now mostly mined in Brazil, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
