Our lovely Smooth Rounds have some truly beautiful Golden Rutile Quartz inclusions within each and every Bead. Strung onto a 38cm Strand with a Drill Hole of 0.6mm, these beads each measure approximately 5 – 6mm.

Our cutters have cut these Beads to show off the rutile needles to their best advantage, which makes for really interesting beads.

These Beads really are perfect for every Jewellery Maker as they can be used in every type of make, including wire-wrapping, stretchies, macrame etc., and can also be the main event or even accent co-ordinated Beads.

Golden Rutile Quartz is a mineral which grows in a needle-like formation. The Quartz grows around this miracle goldenness encapsulating the Rutile and trapping it inside.

Rutile Quartz is commonly found in Reddish orange-brown tones. It is mostly mined in Africa, India, Brazil, Madagascar and Australia.

For many years Rutilated Quartz was disregarded by miners as worthless.

Only pure Quartz was deemed a valuable Crystal, tainting the beauty of Golden Rutile Quartz.

However, during the 20th century, Fashion designers and Collectors started to recognise the unique beauty this Stone provides, likening the inclusions to that of angel hair.

On the Mohs Scale of Hardness, Rutile Quartz is 6-6.5
