Fordite Gemmology Facts:

This is a truly fascinating Stone, having been first discovered in the 1920s.

It is a manmade material made from old automobile paint that the automotive industry used to hand spray their cars, trains, buses etc.

The automotive industry use to hand spray their vehicles. When drying in the oven, the paint drips onto the floor. Over time the paint hardens whilst more layers of paint are added, forming this Agate-like structure.

The layers of paint harden enough for the pieces to then be cut and polished into these Cabochons.

The layers of paint create these fantastic patterns within this man-made material.
