Botswana Agate Gemmology Facts:

Botswana Agate is a type of banded Chalcedony, a Mineral in the Quartz family. It’s mostly striped in pink and grey, with some subdued apricots and browns.

It’s not surprising that Botswana Agate originates in Africa, but did you know that it does so in a place called Bobonong? It’s an oddly enjoyable word to say and repeat!

These magnificent Gemstones were produced by volcanic activity some 200 million years ago. These Gems did not come from a traditional mountainous volcano, even though they did start out as volcanic flows.

In this case, large cracks in the underlying rock layers allowed lava to pour out in waves and roll across the landscape.

Layers of Silica and Quartz were therefore formed, resulting in the delicate banding and patterns that distinguish Botswana Agate colours.

This mining area is quite small; however, Botswana Agate creates employment opportunities by mining and processing the Agates. They mine around 48 Tonnes of Agate a year!

Crystal Healing Properties: What is Botswana Agate good for?

Agate is a calming and soothing Gemstone that can help with anxiety and nervousness. It is thought to be a consoling, safeguarding Crystal that can provide grieving or lonely consolation.

According to legend, one can employ this Crystal’s tranquil energy to centre themselves during Meditation. Some claim that it provides you with the love and courage necessary to seek solutions rather than wallowing in your problems.

This Gemstone encourages sentiments of maturity, inner stability, and composure. Its warm, insulating qualities promote security and self-assurance.

Some claim that it provides fantastic assistance for individuals seeking love. Finding someone who is in sync with the wearer and, ideally, someone who shares their dreams is made easier by using its power.

What Chakra does Botswana Agate open?

Botswana Agate is generally used in practice to stimulate the Crown Chakra as it is good for concentration as well as for mental and analytical enhancement.

The Root Chakra is linked to this Banded Agate. The base of the body’s physical and spiritual energies is related to this particular Chakra. Because of this relationship, Botswana Agate is used to support people who feel out of balance physically or spiritually.

Botswana Agate is thought to give the body energy, a sense of security, and power by balancing the Root Chakra.

GEMSTONE & CRYSTAL CARE:

One of the most important things to remember if you own Gemstones or Crystals is to care for them properly. Gemstones should be carefully cared for like any other item we love.

We recommend using the Chalmers Gems Gemstone Cleaning & Polishing Cloth to keep your Gems clean.
