Magnesite was first discovered in 1808 and originated in Greece. Magnesite is commonly found as veins in and a by-product of ultramafic rocks, Serpentinite and other Magnesium-rich rock types. It’s composed of carbon, magnesium and oxygen and is given its name from its chemical composition. Magnesite is usually collected as a rare Mineral and is sometimes faceted into a Gemstone. This Gemstone is commonly found in hues of white and grey but can also be found in some shades of yellow or brown.
