Jasper is a variety of Quartz which contains an element of other materials/inclusions, such as organic material and mineral material & it is these inclusions that determine the colours, patterns, and appearance within the Gemstone.

When you look at any type of Jasper it is usually multicoloured with curious patterns. Jasper can be cut into many shapes and can be cut very thinly. What we love about it as Jewellery Makers is how highly polished Jasper can be.

Most Jaspers have the same geological characteristics and have different trade names that enable us to identify the type of Jasper. They are largely spotted/orbicular or banded/striped.

Bumble Bee Jasper is the natural birthstone for anyone that is born during the summer months. This ranges from June all the way through to the beginning of September. This links to the yellow tones within the Stone, representing new beginnings and high optimism.
