RED WAVE JASPER GEMMOLOGY FACTS:

Jasper, of all forms, is an aggregate microgranular quartz or cryptocrystalline chalcedony & even other minerals. As an opaque gemstone, it’s an impure type of silica that can come in many colours and patterns – largely depending on the minerals that make their way (via wind or rain) into the original Quartz during its making within Mother Earth.

With Red Jaspers, this mineral is iron. Fascinatingly, Red Jasper is made up of loads of tiny, miniature Crystals that are packed together and interlock to create this original and unique Gemstone.

Used since the stone age, it is a go-to Gemstone for ornate Jewellery and is often carved and polished into individual adornments. Red Jasper measures 6.5-7 on the Mohs Scale of hardness.

The colour of Red Jasper ranges from bright red to brownish red.
