Snowflake Obsidian Gemmology Facts:

Obsidian is a natural glass formed by the rapid cooling of volcanic lava. A Crystalline structure would have been created if the lava had been allowed to cool slowly. The ‘snowflake’ pattern is created from a white Mineral inclusion called Cristobalite.

It has a dark body colour due to the presence of iron and magnesium in its structure. It has a hardness of 5 – 5.5 on the Mohs Scale.
