An orbicular type Jasper, Peanut Wood Jasper is literally named after the fact that it is actually a petrified wood. We have Australian clams to thank for nibbling away at driftwood (which eventually sank in prehistoric sea ) leaving holes for plankton to fill that solidified over millennia to create the peanut looking orbs all over its surface – which are actually cream patches of Mookaite – who knew?!
Every one of these Cabochons shows this brilliant-patterned effect and we know you will love them. In fact, Marie loves them that much that she has a picture of them as her screen saver!
At just £18.00 per pack, we guarantee that we are bringing you the best possible quality of these Cabochons! They are a perfect size for pendants, whether wire-wrapped, clay set or cast they will look absolutely amazing. Please bear us in mind when you are making as we really do want one!

Jasper is a variety of quartz which contains an element of other materials/inclusions, such as organic material and mineral material & it is these inclusions that determine the colours, patterns and appearance within the gemstone. When you look at any type of Jasper it is usually multicoloured with curious patterns.
Jasper can be cut into many shapes and can be cut very thinly and what we love about it as jewellery makers is how highly polished Jasper can be.
Most Jaspers have the same geological characteristics and have different trade names that enables us to identify the type of Jasper. They are largely spotted/orbicular or banded/striped.
Jasper sustains and supports us through times of stress and is a super energy balancer. Depending on the type of Jasper, this gemstone can be used in association with all the chakras and is a super-duper grounding stone.
Bringing tranquillity and a sense of wholeness, this very protective stone absorbs negative energy which is why it makes great jewellery as you can wear your gemstone in situations where being rooted, protected and balanced is important.
Natural nurturers, Jaspers transmute negative energies and give us a sense of balance.
In ancient civilisations, Jasper was worn by shamans, priests and kings, as this wonderful healing gemstone was considered sacred and a powerful protection aid. They made talismans and jewellery as protectors and also for courage and wisdom.
