Chevron Amethyst GEMMOLOGY FACTS:
Chevron Amethyst is the name given to naturally occurring Amethyst and White Quartz in a banded pattern.
Amethyst is a purple variety of Quartz which is the largest Gemstone family. Its sisters are Rose Quartz, Citrine, Prasiolite and Smokey Quartz, just to name a few.
Amethyst’s colour comes from iron and grows in a high temperature and a high-pressure environment. Amethyst varies in shade from very pale lavender to intense purple.
The colour is dictated by the level of iron within each Stone.
Amethyst can occur in a range of shapes and colours and can be found with large natural points or polished into smooth shapes. Until the beginning of the 20th Century, Amethyst was quite rare and costly.
It was as expensive as Ruby and Emeralds. You may spot Amethyst in antique Jewellery or Royal Jewels, including the British Royal Family Crown Jewels, which you can view at the Tower of London.
Today it is one of the most popular Quartz varieties and is in high demand for designer pieces. Its purple hues make it so popular within the mass market. If you are born in February,
Amethyst is the Birthstone of February.
Amethyst is a 7 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness. This means it is appropriate for Jewellery. We recommend using the Chalmers Gems Gems Cleaning & Polishing Cloth to keep your Gems clean.
CRYSTAL HEALING PROPERTIES: WHAT IS AMETHYST GOOD FOR?
Chevron Amethyst is extra powerful because it shares the same energies and vibrations as normal Amethyst, but Chevron Amethyst has extra strength to work with our Higher Chakras.
Amethyst is the purple variety of the Quartz family and actually means “not drunken” in Greek. Historically Amethyst was used as an amulet against drunkenness!
Amethyst is one of the Master Healing Gemstones used to amplify and induce calmness, peace, and tranquillity. Amethyst can benefit people struggling with intense stress and give users a sense of balance and diplomacy.
This Crystal’s powers have also been thought of in ancient times to help with those retched hangovers; however, today, we tend to use it in Meditation, before sleep or in moments of stillness.
A bathtime slumber or beside your sleeping self is an ideal placement for Amethyst. Amethyst is a great companion when you are winding down from a busy day.

WHAT CHAKRA DOES AMETHYST OPEN?
Amethyst is one of the most effective Crystals for healing. It reverberates with high-frequency energies of the Crown and Third Eye Chakra as it opens, activates, and heals.
It massively calms and soothes the mind, body, and spirit. Associated with the Crown and Third Eye Chakras, Amethyst is a super Gemstone to help us in our practice when it comes to positive thinking and transmuting negativity.
A hugely protective Gemstone, Amethyst has been used throughout the centuries to bring protection in both our waking and sleeping states.
